This night table was in a pretty sad state when I bought it at a flea market. It was wood but it had a faux wood stain effect that is usually reserved for something that isn't wood!
First I stripped the thick layers of paint off, then used wood filler for all the nicks and also the grooved lines on the drawer. I used a few coats of soft green paint and then sanded some ares to give it an aged look. Next I rubbed some stain on the exposed wood areas to bring out the color of the wood. I replaced the elaborate drawer pull for something a little smaller and more simple and.....voila!
